Just enough
She stared at the oceans
Her eyes filled with water
She couldn’t decide
Which was more deep,
The ocean
Or her pain.
Watching the sun go down
Silence throbbed her empty heart
And then she heard
The notes of a heart
Sadder than hers.
She turned around to see him singing
with his tears
And in his tears
She saw a reflection
of herself,
A young,
Independent,
Smart woman,
Someone who could also
Stop his tears.
So she walked towards him,
caressing his cheek
she wiped his tears
and whispered
“It’s ok
And if it’s not
It’s gonna be,
Stay strong”
The same words she wish
someone had told her before
“I am here
for you”.
Gratitude flowed
and so did a spark.
In his presence she felt
a comfort, a love.
Her lonely heart didn’t feel
As lonely anymore.
In her presence he felt
what it liked to be
loved for, to be
cared for.
Under the crimson sky
A few heartfelt
words and touch
(only these)
were all it took for them to realize
what was already there; a connection
And while the waves came
and crested
they stayed by each other’s side.
Not too much
Not too little
They were
for eachother
‘perfect’
and ‘enough’.
